Yo, we’re trying ad-free Patron RSS feeds now.
Cards!
Screen Capping from HearthPwn today since the official HS website ISN’T UP TO DATE.
Druid
- Somebody at Team 5 likes Token Druid.
- Great stats on Goru.
- 7 Mana feels pretty late for this (strong) effect.
- Token decks have traditionally struggled with late game unless they can get REALLY big because of the pesky 7 Minion limit in Hearthstone.
- Savage Roar right now is typically enough. Not sure Token Druids need a passive +1/+1. But Token Druids are currently running the 8 Mana Forest’s Aid, so this is interesting for sure.
- Dragon and Quest look to have the best Ramp. Quest Treant Druid?
- Somebody at Team 5 likes Token Druid.
- I think there’s a schism between non-Treant Token Druid and Treant Token Druid. The former wants to run this. I don’t think 1 more Mana is a huge drawback.
- Good Ex: Acornbearer is now a 2 Mana 4/3 that gives you Squirrels.
- Not as Good Ex: EVIL Cable Rat - 3 Mana 3/3. I just want Lackeys.
- Combos well with other treant cards, would be a 1 mana play alongside Cenarius or Garden Gnome, free card draw with FoN, just not sure token treants are better than Choose One quest druid
- Somebody at Team 5 likes Token Druid.
- Do you remember Enchanted Raven?
- With all of the Treant support and Token Druid’s solid history… thumbs up.
- Decent stats for 2 mana, spread over two bodies and with Treant synergies. Hope this deck is a thing!
- Big druid maybe, but there are too many on play effects that are too good in druid right now.
Hunter
Mage
- A little easier than the quest was because now we’ve got Twinspells and it’s cards, not spells alone, so tokens generated will count as well
- Goes well with Violet Spellwing, Arcane Breath, Cobalt Spellkin, and Magic Trick, so we’re saying there’s a chance!
- Hearthstone AF
- Positioning really matters.
- Direction is only random if there’s an option of left or right.
- Got some elemental love with the Giant and the Spellwing, as well as their legendary Chenvaala
- Seems doable and a strong reward.
- Best Sidequest period. NUTS!
Big thanks to our sponsor Harry’s

Paladin
- Certainly big value. I like Zealot better.
- Super interested in this. Not sure it lands this expansion. But maybe in the next year.
- Highlander Secret Pally runs Glow-Tron, Mecharoo, Snip-Snap, Micro Mummy, Framebot, Replicating Menace, Zilliax and Annoy-o-Module.
- Not a lot of potential here except in Wild because of odd dude paladin. Since it’s not a secret your opponent knows how close you are and when to clear. There’s some edge case synergies but no reason to put them in any decks
- Wild however… Lost in the Jungle: 1 Mana Summon 2, Muster: 3 Mana Summon 3. Stand Against Darkness: 5 Mana Summon 5. And as mentioned… Baku
Priest
- There was a video that was taken down showing the card in play. It works like Tess Greymane in that it doesn’t copy Battlecries. Spells are targeted randomly.
- Seems bad?
- Not great. Can combo with Lyra in Wild and Pyromancer, but lackey generation isn’t great in priest. They’re trying to do other things.
- Combo potential.
- Just cast it on a valuable minion before trading.
- Cheap invoke which would be great in other classes, but will likely be a tempo loss in Priest because of the randomness
Rogue
- Cheap tokens make Rogues happy, so the pirate tag doesn’t even really matter

Shaman
- Base form is a 7 Mana, 5 Armor Legendary Hero Card
- Battlecry: Summon two 2/2 Storms with Rush. (Invoke twice to upgrade.)
- First Upgrade: Battlecry: Summon two 4/4 Storms with Rush.
- Second Upgrade: Battlecry: Summon two 8/8 Storms with Rush. Equip 5/2 Claw.
- 2 Mana Hero Power - Summon a 2/1 Elemental with Rush.
- Seems really really good. Normal wolves overloads you, this doesn’t
- Combined with Corrupt Elementalist and Invocation of Frost you can get this going fast
- 3/3 plus two 2/1’s with rush
- Upgrade Galakrond with one card instead of two
- Cheap overload card that can be combined well with Vessina
- Seems like Overload may make a comeback
- Another tool for a midrange Overload deck
- Cheap invoke!
- Summons a 2/1 rush minion, so Glacial Shard with rush, seems good! Do have to remember it’s not a battlecry minion though
- Elemental turn 1 play, curves well into Earthen Might
- Overload might not be the best Shaman deck right now, but this is another tool they can use for early game
Warlock
- More handlock love
- Because each one is an individual shot, it’s great with spell damage, or against things like divine shield
- Self-damaging effect but with lowest possible impact. Death by 1,000 cuts warlock incoming?
Warrior
- Supercollider type effect that can ignore taunt and doesn’t cost you health, which may matter to control warriors now that armor destruction tech is in the game
- Seems good for aggro, first swing has 4 attack because of the Invoke
- Not great if you’re going to be using the weapon re-equip neutral, Hoard Pillager
- Similar to ship’s cannon
- Combines Pirate and Mech synergy, which are both good in Warrior
- Wild pirates is going to be really strong
- I for one welcome our new Pirate Warrior overlords
- Pairs well with neutral Parachute Brigand (though comes from hand not deck, so not as reliable as Patches)
- We didn’t get super cheap Warrior invoke, so that’s good
- Comparisons to Swipe, but remember your hero will take the damage if you hit a minion, and you can’t ignore Taunt, so probably fairly costed
Neutrals
- Evasive Chimaera
- Fire Hawk
- Hippogryph
- Goboglide Tech
- Gyrocopter
- Living Dragonbreath
- Tasty Flyfish
- Blazing Battlemage
- We all get an Enchanted Raven!
- Talk about this during Warrior with Sky Raider
- Probably not good enough to get a deck slot. But not bad enough to be a bummer from Discovering Dragons.
- Guaranteed draw for your dragon decks. What’s not to like?
- Si:7 Rider
- Seems good. But so many cards feel bonkers in this set.
- Holy Arena Batman
- Might just be solid enough for some Dragon decks.
- I lean toward liking this card. Like to compare to what Dragon Decks might be running. There’s not a ton of 4 Mana competition in this set.
- Shammy: Guaranteed 5/7 on 4 (2 Overload) with Squallhunter.
- Priest: Guaranteed 3/6 on 4 that reduces hand cost by 1 if you’ve Invoked twice (Fate Weaver).
- Paladin: 4 Mana 8/8 in Nozdormu
- Build an Oasis Surger
- Shaman Totems just got scary.
- Hello Warrior
- Ancharrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!
- Hi, I like high rolls.
- Do you want to play Dragons and feel like an ass when playing against a non-Dragon deck?
- Do you remember how many Dragons are good because of their Battlecry? =(
- Tech against Bombs or Hakkar’s Corrupted Blood.
- Or memes...

Personal Rating in Hearthstone Battlegrounds
Tian, a Senior Data Scientist on the Hearthstone team posted a new Developer Insights post last week explaining just how our ranking in Battlegrounds work.
- The value of your rating represents your skill level in Hearthstone Battlegrounds.
- Rating helps HS match you with 7 other players of similar skill.
- The goal is to see most players in the middle of the rating spectrum.
- Ex:. On the second day of Open Beta, if your rating was 4200, you were roughly more skilled than 77% of the players playing Battlegrounds; if your rating was 5000, this would be better than 99% of the players.
- Represents how confident HS is about your rating.
- Variance is a number that’s associated with your rating but not explicitly shown to you.
- New player? High variance.
- Unexpected results? Variance will rise.
- Ex: If a high rating player loses to some players whose rating is much lower than theirs, it may result in an increase of their variance.
- How Your Rating Gets Updated After Each Match
- After each match, your rating gets updated based on a combination of your rating, your opponents’ ratings, the place you finish in the match, your predicted win chance, your variance, and a few other factors.
- Basically, the bigger your variance, the more you’ll see your rating change after the match. Up or down.
