Intro: Welcome to Into the Nexus! The Heroes of the Storm podcast!
BlizzcOnline approaches and we’ve gotten a peak at what our announcements might look like. Dark Nexus Deathwing takes center stage for Heroes rep on the show floor but folks are more worried about the Tracer exclusive mount. Garrett and Kyle take you through all weeks happenings including a farewell to AZJackson, strategies from tournament play and a big honkin’ strategy section all about how to draft better. All with notes of floral, fruity, earthy car analogies and snack chips that you have come to love.

AZ Jackson Leaves the HotS Team
“I’ve reached a point in my career where I’ve come to the difficult decision to move on to another project. I’ve been a part of the Heroes team for a very long time now, and in order to grow as a person and a designer I believe it’s important to constantly challenge myself in new ways. I’m still going to be at Blizzard, and I’m very excited about the new challenges that I get to overcome and the awesome experiences that I’ll be able to help bring to you.”
“I wanted to reassure you that we did hire a replacement for my position, and that it was someone who I was able to personally vet because it was very important to both me and the team that the game had someone who we felt could do the job and do it well. They have been around since the beginning of the game’s life and are just as passionate as I am about making Heroes the best that it can be. I have total faith that they will do a good job.”
“As someone on the inside, I can tell you that the people who work on Heroes care deeply about giving you the best experience that they can. Even if we don’t always respond, I can assure you that your posts, your views, and your passion for our game do not go unnoticed. I’ve read almost every post on our forums, on Reddit, and have spent countless hours watching various streamers and live events. We’re watching and enjoying this ride just as much as you are.
I want to leave with a quote that has stuck with me that I blatantly stole from a good friend.
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard” – Winnie the Pooh
I’ll see you all… In the Nexus.

“Blaze is the strongest Maiev counter”
For D’ing the base or rotating top to bottom, Hearthing is often quicker.
If you are going to run Mei, consider the main tank Xul.
Raynor’s Duskwing gives too much value. It’s the reason you take Banshee at 10.
Raynor’s Execute works on all targets.
Never Malthael into Brightwing.

i'm in a bit of a weird position. I've been a long time listener to ITN without actually really playing heroes much. I've finally decided to give it more than just a couple games at a time, as I empathize with the person who said they wanted to play league but actually have fun. I've been a Gold Support player in SL for the past few years, but could someone show me a resource for expected behaviors in hots? how many of each class are in a game, how many people go to lanes, etc. and any hero recommendations also welcome. What are the mages with CC? Just curious. And any tank recommendations?
In search of non-tank/non healer CC:
Kit Stuns | Unique Stuns | Kit Roots | Kit Silences | Daze/Knockbacks | Terrain | Level 10 Stuns |
Blaze Gazlowe Kael’thas Kerrigan Butcher Rexxar Valeera | Deathwing Hogger Imperius Kel’thuzad Qhira Yrel | Junkrat Thrall Xul | Alrak | Artanis Dva Maiev Raynor Hammer Tychus | Hogger Nazeebo | Anduin Hanzo Kerrigan Murky Orphea Ragnaros Thrall *Tyrael* Valla |
Nothing Whatsoever
Can you make it to 10?

Firstly, I want to say that I am a big fan and I love the work you do Garret! I listen to pretty much all your shows, as I am too a fan of Blizzard (although they have been testing our love for them in recent years...)
Kyle, not only is your name cool, but you have taught me so much in HOTs, thank you so, so much! I zombie walled the Deathwing and it made me smile.
However, I do still struggle with anxiety of joining games with live players. I rarely, if ever, dabble in QM, but never have tried storm league.
The feeling of being bad and letting the team down makes me too anxious to even queue up. I am not the best at mobas, and have slow reflexes. I'm a shift worker, so scheduling to play with others regularly is hard, even if I had friends who played this game.
Anyways, just would like your thoughts, or hear what makes you feel confident in HOTS, or any recommendations!
Much love from Cape Town South Africa!
