1) REPORTER

There are two categories of reporters: Event Reporters & News Reporters.

As an event reporter for HOT, your job is pretty straightforward. You will attend at most 1 event per month, gather the necessary details, interview the necessary people, and write a report about it later. HOT reporters often get free entry for pay-to-participate events, as our reports serve as documentation and publicity for the organising committee.

As a news reporter, you will cover anything else that's newsworthy in and around UTP, much like what you see in our local newspapers. You get to schedule interviews with big names in management, and also collect opinions of students on whatever issue you're writing about. It's a great way to develop your interpersonal skills and form relationships with the important people on campus!

2) COLUMNIST

Columnists are required to write at least one column a month on something other than events, preferably a general topic of interest among UTP students. Just tell us what you want you want to write about that month, we'll discuss what you should or should not include in your column, then you can go ahead and write it. If you want to publish your column on your own personal blog as well as on our site, you are free to do so.

If you want to have your own permanent column section, that's fine too if you have a theme (e.g. recipe column, tech advice column)

3) PHOTOGRAPHER

The duties of our photographer are probably the lightest. We assign you an event, you go there in your HOT tag and shirt, take some pictures, then mail them to us.

REQUIREMENT: You need to have your own camera.

4) DESIGNER

Your duties as a designer will be to use your creative genius and expertise to help with the hardcopy issues, designing recruitment posters, cover photos for social media, web design etc. Basically anything we need your tech know-how for.

It's a great way to hone your skills!

5) VIDEOGRAPHER

You will attend major events with your team, get the highlights on video, help conduct interviews, and be involved in editing the video afterwards. You may also be tasked with covering campus issues, not just events.

6) HUMAN RESOURCE

HOT's HR department is primarily in charge of keeping track of the ever-growing membership database. They also help in recruitment drives, member retention, and other internal affairs. It is the backbone of HOT and the skills you pick up here will be directly transferrable to other clubs and organisations you wish to join in UTP.

7) LOGISTICS

The Logistics department is responsible for printing, venue booking, merchandise purchasing, and other miscellaneous tasks. They will get to work closely with the top brass of HOT in dealing with management.
