Skirball Talks: Slavoj Žižek, Mladen Dolar, and Alenka Zupančič
The German Department and Deutsches Haus at NYU present as part of NYU Skirball's ongoing series SKIRBALL TALKS: "The Politics of Sexual Difference" with Slavoj Žižek, Mladen Dolar, and Alenka Zupančič. This public event consists of three half-hour presentations, and is on the occasion of two new publications: Incontinence of the Void by Slavoj Žižek, and What IS Sex? by Alenka Zupančič.

Held weekly every Monday at 6:30 during the academic terms, SKIRBALL TALKS hosts visionaries from the worlds of politics, the arts, sciences, academia, and more. Future guests include Oskar Eustis, Judith Butler, and Eckhart Tolle.

SPEAKER BIOS:
Slavoj Žižek is a senior researcher at the Institute for Sociology and Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana, Global Distinguished Professor of German at New York University, and international director of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities of the University of London.

Mladen Dolar taught for 20 years in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, where he now works as a Senior Research Fellow. He is the author of a number of books, most recently (with Slavoj Žižek) Opera’s Second Death and Voice and Nothing More.

Alenka Zupančič, a Slovenian psychoanalytic theorist and philosopher, teaches at the European Graduate School and is a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and the Arts. She is the author of The Shortest Shadow: Nietzsche’s Philosophy of the Two and The Odd One In: On Comedy, both in the Short Circuits series, published by the MIT Press.
